PRP Procedure

Hair loss has many underlying causes and solutions can be quite simple. Either supporting the hair follicles with a healthy, unstressful lifestyle or with an external source of nourishment for your hair. There are some procedures that can be done such as mesotherapies (vitamin coctail injections directly into hair follicles) or PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) injections.

PRP, Platelet Rich Plasma injections are prepared from your own cells. It is used to regenerate tissue, including hair follicles. Reasons for hair loss vary, but the most common cause is androgenic alopecia. Testosterone goes to into the hair follicle and damages its structure. PRP injections reverse this damage and makes your hair follicle stronger. If your hair started to fall, PRP injections could be a great solution to decrease the intensity of that hair fall. Sometimes, if the hair follicle is not completely destroyed, it may help you to regain those hairs.

How PRP is prepared?

A small amount of blood will be taken to be centrifuged and the red blood cells will be seperated from the plasma cells. These thrombocyte rich plasma cells are prepared to inject next to the damaged follicles. PRP injections stimulates hair growth and helps regeneration of any tissue that is damaged. It is also used during or after hair transplant procedures to improve healing.

As it is a non-invasive method made from your own cells, it is completely complication free, that is why it is widely used before hair transplants becomes an absolute necessity.

PRP Treatment Steps
  1. Blood sample collection About 10cc (2 teaspoons) of your blood will be collected.
  2. Separation Red blood cells will be separated from platelet rich plasma.
  3. Collection Platelet rich plasma will be collected from the tube.
  4. Injection Prior prepared platelet rich plasma cells will be injected to weakened part of the hair.
  5. Session planning According to treatment plan, there will be couple of PRP sessions needed.

What is the typical result after PRP treatment?

Most patients are concerned if anybody would notice that they had a treatment. Unlike many procedures, PRP is completely natural looking. Even from the first day no one can notice you underwent a treatment, and  your hair will look fuller in time.  It takes typically 2-4 weeks for the injections to start working on the damaged follicles.
